“Fudgy” Chocolate Truffles

Chocolate Truffles ( shh vegan and #healthy)  This week I've been researching about deserts. Mainly because during my first week on detox this was my main problem, the thing that pushed me to cheat on my otherwise Alkaline diet. Even though this is not detox at least is a better option than regular chocolate so for those who love chocolate this is as good as it gets.   I made this from the things I had at home. The first time I made it it hurt my pocket a little because coconut oil can be expensive, but since you use so little of it it lasts a very long time which means in the end it is cheaper than going out and buying chocolate made with cane sugar and food coloring.   To buy the dates I use Publix because they have good and very cheap dates in the produce section ( last time it was 3.99!!) and again it will give me a couple of dozens of truffles so it is worth it. The cacao powder was a really good buy I paid about 2.99 for the small container and i feel it works ju

Spiralized Raw Apple Pie

To continue with the Apple + Raw theme, I've concocted  this recipe and don't worry if you don't own a spiralizer, there are other ways to make this recipe, so keep on reading. I just got a new toy courtesy of Dee and Jeri, my dear friends and I am playing with it as much as I can (ergo the Spiralizer!!) So to make this recipe you only need a couple of items depending on how you want it. You also need patience, because your going to prep it one day but eat it the next. Why???!!! Because the fruit needs time to release its own sugars overnight, think of it like marinated fruit. OK that doesn't sound pleasant but it's the closest way to explain what happens to the fruit when you mix it with sweetener and leave it for a couple of hours or overnight. Although you will want to eat this right away believe me it so much better the next day so be patient. If you don't have a spiralizer a good way to get the same result will be to grate the apple. make sure to c

Applesauce... RAW???

Hey guys I'm sorry to have been out of touch. I was spending some time with family and they took up most of my day. Happily spent time but no time to blog. Now I have started playing in my kitchen and I found a recipe that is just delicious. Normally applesauce is this sweet delicious thing that has a lot of texture and in my case cinnamon. As of late I've taken to my heart to read labels before buying anything and the label for applesauce is not so bad but wouldn't it be better if  it had none?? I found this recipe to be so delicious and most importantly EASY! I definitely do not have time to play around in the kitchen (as much as I love to) so recipes need to be fast and easy. The ingredients for this recipe are simple and delicious. Apples (I used gala but any apple will do the trick) + Dates and a little water can do the trick. I really enjoy this with dried fruit or as a sauce for a fruit salad (YUM!). Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. This could coun

Spice it Up!!

Image
Homemade Spice Blends I have started to look around to make my own spice mixes. Mostly because they are so much more expensive at the store and because I only need a little of it rather than a lot. So this does not require much time and it saves you time and money (those magic words every girl wants to hear!!). I started my research on Pinterest to see if anyone else thought the same and there are so many combinations to spice up my food. I am very excited to try them all, but of course most of them require tinkering because I don't do spicy and I like to avoid chemicals till the end. Also the amounts will affect your recipe. The chart I have posted does not belong to me but it is one of the best and easiest ones to understand.                                                      This has helped me when it comes to changing my dishes (specially baked vegetables) because I can make the same dish and it will taste completely different and it saves m
