Creamy potato soup (In the slow cooker!)

Making cream soup usually involves flour, cream or milk and lots of butter. This version has NONE of these, keeping the creaminess and delicious flavors intact. It's an alkaline choice of ingredients made into a delicious comfort food. The creamy part is made out of the potatoes in the soup. Using these potatoes will keep the flavor in the soup consistent and just to add in a nutritious ingredient I added some steamed cauliflower.  Since there is no meat in this recipe at the end sauteed balsamic mushrooms were added. The mushrooms allow the illusion that it has some kind of meat; and don't even get me started on the health benefits! The main reason I made this in the slow cooker  was because I thought about making something for lunch for the next day at work and it was already 10:00pm so there was no way I was gonna cook and wait the whole process. The decision was simple... Stay up and cook or throw it in the slow cooker and put a timer and go to sleep? But my friend ...

I cant believe it's NOT soysauce!

My dear Peeps, I am so sorry that It's taken so long for a new post. For those who know me you guys could tell  I was a little sick ( lies!! I was super sick!) so there was no inventing or cooking at all for about a week and a half. Finally I am feeling better and this weekend I made sure I caught up with my cooking projects and made Soy-less soy sauce. I wanted to make it as healthy but tasty as possible so other things it doesn't have are Alcohol, Wheat, Salt, Sodium Benzoate (preservative) or Yeast.  Typically you expect for soy sauce to be salty, so if you are NOT ON DETOX you can add about a teaspoon of sea salt or Himalayan salt although you really don't need it its a very tasty sauce. The cool thing about this sauce its that it opens up a brand new venue for those on the detox and it gives a healthy option for those who want one.  To make this "soy sauce" you can use all natural spices but you will have to alter the amounts remember when you use dri...

Detox Fruit Tart

Loving the Fruit Tart!! Creamy Filling Making this was such an amazing experiment. The most important question was, How do I make a custard without any eggs, cream or sugar??? So I decided to brainstorm.. A good custard should be sweet and creamy.  I found this awesome new item in my local grocery store, it's creamed coconut. Not to be confused with coconut cream. Basically it's a brick "i t is made out of unsweetened dehydrated fresh meat of a mature coconut, ground to a semi-solid white  creamy paste. It is sold in the form of a hard white  block which can be stored at room temperature" (wiki pedia explan a tion) and it makes the perfect base for this desert. Crust The next part was the sweet and for me I wanted sweet and tangy. I know I ask so much!! For the sweet I froze some bananas and for the tangy I froze some pineapple.   The crust was basically the same as the apple pie but NO "Pie Spice". This way I save myself from spending to m...

“Fudgy” Chocolate Truffles

Chocolate Truffles ( shh vegan and #healthy)  This week I've been researching about deserts. Mainly because during my first week on detox this was my main problem, the thing that pushed me to cheat on my otherwise Alkaline diet. Even though this is not detox at least is a better option than regular chocolate so for those who love chocolate this is as good as it gets.   I made this from the things I had at home. The first time I made it it hurt my pocket a little because coconut oil can be expensive, but since you use so little of it it lasts a very long time which means in the end it is cheaper than going out and buying chocolate made with cane sugar and food coloring.   To buy the dates I use Publix because they have good and very cheap dates in the produce section ( last time it was 3.99!!) and again it will give me a couple of dozens of truffles so it is worth it. The cacao powder was a really good buy I paid about 2.99 for the small contain...
